Southold’s new Single Stream recycling program is off to a strong start, with recycling up 26% over the previous source-separated system. HOWEVER, PLASTIC BAGS SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR RECYCLABLES. These bags can jam and damage the machinery that sorts the recyclables. If you can’t bring your CLEAN plastic bags back to the store for recycling they should be placed with your regular trash.
