Paper Shredding

The Town of Southold holds periodic document shredding events for Town residents. These events give residents the opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents efficiently and securely. The Town offers this service through Shred-It, Inc. of Westbury, NY which provides a mobile shredding vehicle capable of holding up to 10 tons shredded paper.

Shred events will be held behind the Recreation Center at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on the following dates:

  • Saturday, April 8, 2023
  • Saturday, July 8, 2023
  •  Saturday, October 28, 2023

While events are scheduled to last until 1:00 pm, it may end earlier if the mobile shredder fills to capacity.  For this reason there is a 3 container maximum limit (boxes or bags) allowed per vehicle at each event.  Please do not bring non-sensitive items such as newspapers, coupons, magazines, etc., as those can be recycled with your other household recyclables through your carter or at the Cutchogue Transfer Station at no charge.

So why not give yourself peace of mind and fight identity theft by ensuring documents with sensitive or personal information is safely and properly destroyed.
