Settled by English colonists in 1640, the Town of Southold celebrated its 375 anniversary in 2015 with a series of events to affirm its heritage. Southold occupies most of Long Island’s North Fork and includes ten hamlets (Fishers Island, Orient, East Marion, Greenport West, Southold, Peconic, Cutchogue, New Suffolk, Mattituck and Laurel along with the incorporated Village of Greenport.) The character of the Town of Southold is defined by our citizens, our unique physical and visual attributes, unparalleled history and the experiences of our visitors.
Southold has long been a cherished destination and continues to evolve with its unspoiled beaches, sprawling vineyards and wineries, agricultural production and farm stands, historic buildings, museums and unlimited recreational opportunities.
