Senior Citizen’s / Enhanced STAR

When applying for the Senior Citizen Exemption, you must be 65 or over, gross income of less than $58,400 (2022 income) and the home must be your primary residence. We have listed three scenarios below, depending on which category you fall into please submit the appropriate form(s). • If you are currently receiving the Enhanced STAR Exemption and would like to apply for a Senior Citizen Exemption please fill out Item B under the heading “Senior Citizen” • If you are currently receiving the Basic STAR Exemption and would like to apply for a Senior Citizen Exemption please fill out Item B under the heading “Senior Citizen” and Items 1 & 2 under the heading “Enhanced STAR” • If you are a first time applicant in the Town of Southold and would like to file for a Senior Citizen Exemption please fill out Item A under the heading “Senior Citizen”. You must also register with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance to receive the STAR Credit Check. Enhanced STAR 2024 - 2025 |
When submitting a new Enhanced STAR application you must provide the RPS-425-IVP from. If you are currently receiving the Basic STAR Exemption and now qualify for the Enhanced STAR please fill out items #1 & #2 below. Also submit a copy of your current driver’s license and a copy of the first two pages of your 2022 New York State Tax Return along with the application. Your federal adjusted gross income minus your IRA must be less than $98,700 to qualify. You no longer need to file a renewal application for the Enhanced STAR, by filing the IVP form, New York State will verify your income annually.Enhanced STAR |
