  • Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations 

    This is the website for the largest annual solid waste conference in the Northeast, held each May in Bolton Landing, NY (at the Sagamore Hotel on Lake George).  It is a joint effort by the three prominent solid waste organizations in New York State:  the NY Chapter of SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America); NYSAR (the New York Association for Recycling); and NYSASWM (New York State Association for Solid Waste Management).   The Conference agendas found here detail the latest developments and trends in the field of solid waste  management.  Links to each organization can also be found here.

  • Solid Waste Association of North America

    An organization of solid waste professionals committed to environmental stewardship and the advancement of sustainable environmental technology. Members of the New York Chapter represent all aspects of waste and materials management and come from state and municipal government agencies, private companies, engineering, legal and financial consultants, as well as private citizens with an interest in advancing the state’s materials management practices.  The Town of Southold is a local government member of this group.

    This website is the portal to all state rules and regulations with respect to solid waste management and recycling in New York State, with links to legislation and policies and procedures, as well as specific guidance for organizations and individuals to handle wastes and recyclables in an environmentally sound manner.
